Black and dark-colored cars are stunning when they're right — and brutal when they're not. If your paint looks hazy under direct sunlight or covered in spider-web swirls, you're seeing the result of improper washing, automated car washes, and time. The fix is paint correction.
What Is Paint Correction?
Paint correction is the controlled removal of a microscopic layer of clear coat to level out scratches, swirl marks, water spots, and oxidation. It's done with a machine polisher, graduated pads, and abrasive compounds — and it's a process, not a product.
The Levels
- One-step polish: Removes around 60–70% of light defects. Great for newer cars.
- Two-step correction: Compound + polish. Removes 85–95% of defects on most vehicles.
- Multi-stage correction: For show cars and severe damage. 95%+ defect removal.
Why You Can't Skip It Before Coating
Ceramic coating is transparent — it locks in everything underneath it. If you coat over swirls, you'll be staring at those swirls for the next 3+ years. That's why every coating package at Dip Solution includes a correction step appropriate for the paint's condition.
How Long Does It Take?
A proper two-step correction on a sedan is typically a 1–2 day job. Anyone promising "swirl removal" in a couple of hours is filling defects with glaze, not removing them — and it'll wash off in a month.
If your dark-colored car has lost its depth, send us a few photos and we'll let you know what level of correction it needs.
